Our Staff

All of our tutors are graduates or former teachers from Raffles Institution and other top schools. We know the best way to learn and succeed in school, and we want to help our students improve their understanding of the academic subjects. We have been there and done that. More importantly, we also want to set the correct role models for our students. We want to inspire them to excel in school and outside school. With The A League, your child will reach new heights and achieve greater success!

KARL GAN

Karl was the top boy at Ai Tong Primary School. Subsequently, he studied in Raffles Institution and spent six years throughout secondary school and JC in the prestigious institution. He was from the school’s canoeing team, drama club, photography society as well as house committee. At GCE A levels, he studied H3 level for English Literature in which he attained a Merit grade. He has won awards for playwriting from MOE’s Creative Arts Programme as well as Theatreworks. He is passionate about reading, writing, the English language, and he believes children today need to have a good grasp of communication in order to succeed in their teenage and adult years. Karl is currently a student at the Singapore Management University (SMU).

Karl is teaching P6 English and Creative Writing.

MOO LEE YIN

Having graduated from CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls School and Hwa Chong Institution (College), Lee Yin is now pursuing an Accountancy degree in NUS Business School. She represented Hwa Chong in various national Taekwondo competitions. She is now serving as the Director (Marketing & Publicity) in Uni-Y, a community service club in NUS, NTU and SMU. Since young, she has also developed a passion of working with children and serving the disadvantaged. She had led students from Hwa Chong to provide free math remedial for disadvantaged secondary school students and has been on two overseas trips to Vietnam and Cambodia to teach English. Lee Yin has been tutoring Primary and Secondary School Science. Lee Yin is teaching Upper Primary and Lower Secondary Science.

JI-RONGHUI

JI RONGHUI TERKIOS

Graduated from CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School and National Junior College, Ronghui is currently pursuing an Economics degree in NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Science. She has been a softball player since primary school and is now with the NUS Softball team. She was also with the St. Nicholas Track and Field team and the NJC Mathematics society. Ronghui’s teaching ability wasrecognized by her school when she was called back to be a Secondary One and Secondary Four Physics relief teacher in CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School. Prior to The A League, Ronghui was a part-time teaching assistant for Chinese and Mathematics at Kumon.

Having spent the first 10 years of her life in China and another 11 years here in Singapore, Ronghui is fully capable of providing effective Chinese tutoring. She has also obtained a German language certificate from NUS. Ronghui is teaching Chinese and Higher Chinese.

KAMESHWARA

Kameshwara is a 3rd year Applied Mathematics student at National University of Singapore (NUS). In short, he loves Mathematics! He is also with the University Scholars Programme in NUS. Currently he is the president and founder of the International Cuisine Appreciation of USP. He was a school swimmer in Junior College and achieved 4 As for his GCE A levels. Fun, hardworking and outgoing, he is now an avid gym and powerlifting enthusiast. Kamesh has been tutoring for the past 4 years while having been a relief teacher for 3months at a primary school.

HUANG HUIJUN

Huijun was from the Gifted Education Programme in Nanyang Primary School. She later went on to study at Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary) and eventually to Raffles Institution (Junior College). In RJC, she joined the school’s Students’ Council as well as piano ensemble, and was also a member of the International Service Learning Elective. At the A levels, she studied he H3 level for Game Theory, where she attained a grade of Merit. She enjoys interacting with young children and helping them to cope with their studies. She strongly believes in instilling the joy of learning in students.

Huijun is teaching Science.

JOHN

John graduated from Raffles Institution (Secondary) and Raffles Junior College, and was previously from the Gifted Education Programme. He was placed consistently on the Dean’s Lists for various subjects and was awarded numerous prizes for his outstanding academic performance. In addition to his good grasp of his academic subjects, John is also an active leader and volunteer in community projects and enjoys working with people to make a difference to society. John has also tutored several students from different levels (secondary and junior college) who have shown great improvement in their studies.

John is teaching JC Mathematics and Economics.

Lavinya

LAVINYA ARUN

Lavinya attended Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary) and subsequently Raffles Institution (Junior College). She was part of the institution’s Touch Rugby team, Community Advocates as well as the Indian Cultural Society. In light of her passion for reading, she was selected to be a member of the Youth Book Selection Committee of the READ! Singapore 2013 campaign. She enjoys serving the community and truly believes that all of us have an obligation to help those who may not be as fortunate as we are.

Lavinya is teaching Mathematics.
